Hotspot Policy
A wi-fi hotspot is a portable device that allows you to connect your mobile-enabled devices (such as laptops, smartphones, tablets) to the internet.
Loan instructions
- Hotspots circulate to adults 18 years or older for one week with one renewal
- Borrowers must have a CWMARS library card in good standing
- Hotspots must be picked up inside the Conant Public Library and returned to the circulation desk in the library; they cannot be returned to other libraries or in the book drop
- Hotspots are limited to one per household at any given time. Upon returning a hotspot, patrons must wait 24 hours before checking out an additional hotspot.
- If the hotspot is not returned on time, service will be turned off and the hotspot will become unusable. There will be a $5 charge for each day that the hotspot is overdue; the maximum late fee is $25.

- Borrowers are responsible for damage, loss or theft of hotspots or any of the accompanying materials. Replacement costs of damaged hotspots will be $50. Hotspots not returned 28 days after their due dates will be considered lost, and the borrower will be charged the total item cost outlined in the agreement form.
- As a library-provided Internet device, hotspots fall under the Conant Public Library’s Internet Use Policy. The Conant Public Library is not responsible for any information a borrower accesses while using a wi-fi hotspot or any actions they take while online.Using the hotspot to access any online content determined to be illegal or obscene according to federal, state, or municipal law will result in revocation of hotspot borrowing privileges and possible criminal prosecution
- All patrons will be required to fill out a hotspot loan form that confirms their acceptance of this policy.
