Toddler and Preschool Storytime

Begins Monday, September 12th

Come hear stories, sing, and craft with friends at the Sterling Library! Registration opens Monday, August 29th at 10AM for a six-week session of Storytime beginning the week of September 12th.

A choice of two sessions are offered: 
Mondays at 10:30 am (2-6 years old with caregiver) - click here to register

Fall StoryWalk!

Begins Tuesday, September 13th

For all ages. 

Take a walk with a good book and enjoy the beautiful fall weather! A StoryWalk, featuring The Leaf Thief by Alice Hemming and Nicola Slater, will be on display beginning on Tuesday, September 13th. The StoryWalk is located on the lawn next to the library and features a colorful fall story sure to have participants giggling!


BabyTime

Begins Thursday, September 22nd

Enjoy a time just for babies up to 18 months and their caregivers at the Sterling Library! Share in simple stories, songs, fingerplays, and sensory activities to bond with your little one in a safe and social environment.

Babytime will run for a five-week session beginning on Thursday, September 22nd from 10:30-11am in the Baker Room.

Keva STEM Challenges

Wednesday, September 28th from 2:30 - 4:30 pm

All ages. 

Come to the library and use our collection of Keva planks to engineer solutions to a series of STEM challenges! Try one or try them all, or just let your creativity flow and build with these versatile blocks!

No registration required. 


Picture Book Club

Wednesday, October 5th at 4:30 pm

Open to children in grades K-2.

We will meet to explore Potato Pants by Laurie Keller. Join friends at the Sterling Library to talk about this book, read a few more and have some fun inspired by your reading!  Books can be checked out at the library (participants do not need to bring their copy to the meeting).

3rd and 4th Grade Book Club

Wednesday, October 12th at 4:30 pm

Open to children in grades 3 and 4.

We will talk about Max and the Midknights by Lincoln Peirce, creator of Big Nate. Come discuss a great book with friends at the Sterling Library!  Participants should read the book before the meeting and bring the book with them; copies will be available at the library.

Write Night

Wednesday, October 12th at 5:30 pm

Open to young writers 8-16.

Are you a daydreamer with stories in your head, or a scribbler who draws comics on your worksheets? Is there poetry in your pocket? Come to a club just for you at the Sterling Library. Young people interested in writing can come and chat about their craft with like-minded peers. Let’s encourage each other to write something wonderful. Creativity welcome, no pressure allowed!

Fun with Fairy Tales: The Three Little Pigs

Wednesday, October 19th at 4:30 pm

Kids in grades K-4.

There are many different versions of The Three Little Pigs - we’ll read a few, then create our own! Have fun with fairy tales at the Conant Public Library.

Middle School Book Club

Wednesday, October 19th at 6:30 pm

Open to readers in grades 5-8.

Middle schoolers will explore Fake Blood by Whitney Gardner at the Sterling Library. This graphic novel is an enjoyable read that pokes fun at the horror genre in telling the story of a group of teen friends. Participants should read the book before the meeting and bring the book with them; copies will be available at the library.

Not-So-Spooky Storytime

Monday, October 24th and Tuesday, October 25th at 10:30 am

For children 18 months and up.

The Sterling Library will host “Not-So-Spooky Storytimes.” Come enjoy stories, songs, and a craft celebrating Halloween - costumes encouraged! Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Spooky Crafternoon - Trick or Treat Lanterns

Wednesday, October 26th at 4:30 pm

For children ages 6+.

Spend the afternoon listening to spooky stories and crafting lanterns to guide you on your trick-or-treating adventures!

Pokemon Card Painting

Thursday, October 27th at 6:30 pm

Teens and tweens ages 10+.

Let’s get creative! What beautiful art can you create within the tiny bounds of a Pokemon card? Can you paint a brand new environment for a favorite Pokemon? Teens and tweens ages 10+ are invited to come to the library for a night of miniature painting fun. Bring your favorite cards (that you wouldn’t mind painting on) or choose from some of ours! All art supplies provided.
